Tree Removal: 3 Great Tree Cutting Techniques
Are you planning of cutting a tree? Do you know that just like there are many ways of killing a rat there are many ways of cutting the tree? Here are some of the ways of cutting the tree:
Open-faced cut
It’s ideal when you are cutting a tree that needs high levels of accuracy. To cut the tree using this technique you need to make a large, sideways V cut into the side of the tree. For ideal results you should ensure that the cut goes downwards at least 70 degrees.
After making the cut you should make another small horizontal cut that meets with the V cut. While the notch is great, the main flaw with it is that you have to make a hinge; therefore, a small amount of wood will be lost. You also need to be very careful in order to make a clean cut. It’s highly recommended that you hire a tree cutting contractor to help you with this cut.
Humboldt cut
You should make a horizontal top cut and another cut that goes in an upward angle. The cool thing with the notch is that it saves a lot of wood thus great when you are cutting the tree to get firewood.
The main flaw with this tree cutting technique is that it tends to have a larger kickback over the stump thus not ideal when cutting leaning trees.
Conventional cut
Conventional tree cutting technique is the most common and used by many people. It’s preferred by tree removal contractors and loggers as it’s not only fast, it’s also very safe. While it’s not as accurate as the open-faced technique, it will provide you with some accuracy levels when done right.
The cut is simple as the only thing that you need to do is to make a top cut at an angle and a horizontal bottom cut.
Safety measures
You can easily injure yourself when cutting the tree; therefore, you should be very cautious. Before you start cutting the tree always create at least two paths that you can use to exit the area if anything goes wrong.
When making the cuts always ensure that both cuts meet evenly and don’t overlap. This is to prevent the tree from falling towards you.
If you have never cut trees before you shouldn’t stress yourself over it. You should simply hire a tree service company to cut the tree for you.
